OUR MODEL CHRIST
By the virtue of our call, SDMs share in the prophetic role of Christ. As prophets, we interprete the signs of the times through the prophetic role of preaching and teaching in accordance with the gospel values.
MISSIONARIES OF THE MOST ABANDONED
Just as the Father sent His Son to offer new life to the world, we are sent to offer renewal to abandoned children. Their welfare is our priority. Our simple lifestyle draws us closer to the Master, who lived in solidarity with the poor (cf. Canon 677).
Our apostolic thrust centres on rehabilitating orphans, the destitute, and children with disabilities, offering them care in a nurturing community. As James 1:27 reminds us: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
Homes for boys and girls will embody Gospel values, particularly love, which transforms the unacceptable and makes the unwanted feel wanted. These homes will serve children of every background, without attempts at proselytisation. Separate homes will be created for children with disabilities, ensuring environments of security, acceptance, and joy.
MISSIONARIES OF THE VOICELESS
We give voice to those silenced by oppression and injustice. SDMs will confront the structures that perpetuate suffering and inequality and join hands with those who keep gospel values against the attempt to dismantle them. (cf. EG, 186-192)
MISSIONARIES OF THE WORD
“Go into the entire world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (MK. 16:15) We embrace difficult missions to make the Word of God known where it has not yet reached. Through our lives and witness, we translate and transmit the Gospel.
MISSIONARIES TO PROMOTE INTER-RELIGIOUS HARMONY
In a religiously diverse world, we often live alongside people of other traditions yet remain strangers to their spirituality. Interreligious dialogue is a vital path toward mutual respect and understanding, and SDM’s embrace this challenge in pursuit of harmony. Interreligious dialogue is one of the principal elements of the Church’s evangelising mission. It emphasises presence, witness, and mutual understanding among people of different faiths. (Dialouge & Mission, 25)
MISSIONARIES TO THE UNREACHED LAND
The entire world is our mission field. We do not see cultural or national borders as barriers to our zeal. Through dialogue centres, SDMs engage with diverse cultures and faiths, building bridges of understanding wherever we are called. (cf. LG.17)
