Our Mission of Compassion and Evangelization: Loving the Unloved, Inspired by Our Founder’s Vision
Serving Remote Parishes and Missions: Wherever we are called, we respond with open hearts, administering remote parishes and missions to bring Christ’s presence to those in spiritual need. We spread the Gospel with love and joy, fulfilling our founder’s vision of reaching the most distant and forgotten with God’s love and mercy.
Evangelization and Spiritual Renewal: In keeping with our founder’s vision, we are committed to the mission of evangelization. Through retreats, prayer services, and spiritual renewal programs, we lead others closer to Christ. Our efforts aim to renew faith, bring healing, and foster a deep devotion within the Church.
A Vision Rooted in Christ’s Love: Serving the Unloved and Forgotten: The vision of the Society of St. Eugene De Mazenod (SDM) is deeply inspired by our founder’s unwavering desire to love the unloved. Our mission is shaped by Christ’s call to serve the most vulnerable—those who are often rejected, marginalized, or forgotten by society. We reach out with the compassionate love of Christ to orphans, street children, children affected by HIV/AIDS, the physically challenged, and those in need of medical care. Through outreach services, we offer them hope, dignity, and the healing touch of Christ.
Empowering Rural Children through Education: Our founder envisioned a future where all children, especially those from rural areas, have access to quality education. Following this vision, SDM works tirelessly to empower children by running schools that provide them with not only academic knowledge but also spiritual and moral formation. We believe education is a powerful tool to break the chains of poverty and to lead these children to a brighter and more secure future.
Restoring Dignity to Widows: In keeping with our founder’s deep compassion for the most vulnerable, we focus on supporting widows who often face oppression, insecurity, and economic hardship. We have identified over 850 widows in desperate need of support and work to establish sustainable sources of income to help them provide for their families. By doing so, we lift them out of despair and protect them from the harassment and injustice they often face from the powerful. Our work restores dignity and provides hope, living out our founder’s call to love and care for those society has forgotten.
Providing for Orphans’ Basic Needs: Guided by our founder’s mission to love the unloved, SDM cares for orphans by meeting their most basic needs—food, clothing, and shelter. Beyond this, we ensure they are raised in an environment filled with love, care, and faith. Our orphanages are a testament to our founder’s vision to create a sanctuary where these children can grow in God’s love and protection.
Ministry to Prisoners: Following Christ’s example of mercy, our society extends compassionate care to prisoners. In line with our founder’s vision, we seek to bring hope to those whom society has condemned. Through regular visits, spiritual guidance, and personal support, we offer prisoners an opportunity to reform their lives, rediscover their dignity, and find hope in Christ. Our ministry helps them change their worldview and gives them a path toward a new life.
Charity and Social Transformation: Reflecting our founder’s universal vision of loving the unloved, we reach out to those in remote and neglected areas. We provide education, medical aid, basic needs, and security to people regardless of caste, colour, creed, region, religion, or race. Our charity is not merely an act of giving but an embodiment of our founder’s belief in creating lasting social change. By loving and serving the most abandoned, we work to transform communities and bring the light of Christ into the darkest corners of the world.
At the heart of all our work is the call to show love to all, especially to love the unloved. Guided by Christ’s example and our founder’s vision, we transcend all barriers of caste, creed, and religion to reach every person in need. In this way, we reveal the boundless love of God to those who have been forgotten, restoring hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging in their lives.
